The water pump and radiator are essential components of your engine’s cooling system. It is this system that helps to prevent your car from overheating, no matter how hard it is working. The water pump circulates the coolant between the engine and the radiator to keep the entire system cool. As the coolant passes through the engine block, it soaks up the heat coming off the engine. Then, it moves on through the radiator. That built-up heat is then released into the atmosphere, cooling off the engine coolant before it heads back to the engine block.
If either the water pump or radiator is not functioning properly, you’ll likely notice your engine’s temperature gauge starting to rise. If you’re not careful, your engine can overheat, leaving you stranded until it cools back off. So, you can see why it is so important to properly maintain these parts.
